Pin Array Tactile Display Being Able to
Express Ultra-Structure Depending on Its Position.

Abstract

In this study, we develop the pin tactile display to provide the sense of touching ultra-structure actively based on tracking a motion of finger position. We implement pin array display with 0 mm distance between by using linear stepping motor and discuss about the performance of pin tactile display. Based on the basic consideration for design tactile display, we design the construction of pin tactile display to provide sensation of ultra-structure. If we can recognize ultra-structure by using tactile pin display, we can apply the tactile pin display for internet shopping and VR Workspace. For example, in internet shopping, we can confirm the ultra-structure on merchandise surface. In VR workspace, we can touch texture on the surface.
